The whole community benefits when students are able to realize their full potential. You can help make the dream of a college education become a reality for more Jefferson County students.
Students
Students in the 8th grade who have at least a B average (3.0), and come from a family where neither parent graduated from college, can apply to the Education Sponsorship Program. An independent committee reviews applications and selects students based on academic performance, recommendations, personal interviews, and financial need.
Volunteers
There are several ways you can help as a volunteer:
q Talk with students about career choices or visit work sites
q Conduct a college prep mentoring session
q Help students research colleges or funding resources
q Review college application forms and essays for content and grammar
q Participate in a committee such as program development, volunteer
recruitment, student selection, fundraising, marketing and public relations
q Provide administrative help with letters and mailings
